Court Administration

Members Of the Court Administrative Unit

The Administration of the Caribbean Court of Justice

The Caribbean Court of Justice is administered by a Department of Court Administration, headed by a Court Executive Administrator (CEA), who reports in turn to the President of the Court.  The CEA is responsible to the President for the overall development and management of the Court and provides the leadership necessary for the effective functioning of the organisation.

The department comprises:

  • Financial Management

  • Court Information Systems Management

  • Court Protocol & Information Services

  • Court Library Services

  • Judicial Research Services

  • Judicial Support Services

  • Court Security Management

  • Court Facilities, Assets & Office Management and

  • the Court Registry

The Court Registry is headed by the Registrar & Chief Marshal, who works in partnership with the CEA and is responsible to the President for the Court Registry operations.  The registrars of the courts of the member states of CARICOM which are signatories to the CCJ are responsible to the Registrar & Chief Marshal as Deputy Registrars of the Caribbean Court of Justice.

The CEA is a professionally-trained court administrator, and a Fellow of the Institute for Court Management of the US National Centre for State Courts.  Each division head in the department is a qualified and experienced professional in his or her area of court administration. Both the CEA and the Registrar are attorneys-at-law with extensive experience in judicial environments.  Working in this organisational structure allows for a partnership approach, thereby permitting facilitating management and assisting the Court to uphold its mission and achieve its vision.
