Applications are invited from suitably qualified residents of Trinidad and Tobago to fill the following position at the Caribbean Court of Justice.

Junior Accounting Assistant

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The Junior Accounting Assistant reports to the Financial Comptroller and:

  • provides a variety of accounting activities related to the payment and receipt of money;
  • computes, classifies, records and reconciles transactions to the CCJ and RJLSC financial accounting systems;
  • checks transactions to locate and resolve discrepancies;
  • applies working knowledge of applicable accounting standards and regulations;
  • records, classifies and summarises accounting transactions;
  • compiles various documents and verifies their accuracy;
  • assembles documents for computer input and inputs data;
  • reconciles accounts and assists in the compilation of reports;
  • performs arithmetical calculations;
  • maintains records through filing retention storage compilation coding and updating;
  • responds to enquiries;
  • uses various software applications such as spreadsheets, rational databases and office suite to assemble, manipulate and format data and reports;
  • carries out duties and responsibilities with limited supervision

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • preferably level 2 ACCA or equivalent and currently pursuing formal professional accounting qualifications;
  • 2 years related work experience; however 3 years preferred additional relevant education may be substituted for experience;
  • ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing;
  • courteous, affable and be able to function in a goal-oriented team environment

INTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Judges and staff members at all levels

EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS

  • staff of courts of the region
  • regional CARICOM Staff and staff of other regional and international bodies
  • members of the public and private sectors

Salary :  TT$8,000.  (free of income tax)
