The Honourable Mr. Justice David Hayton, widely considered the leading authority in the U.K. and Europe on the law of trusts, former Dean of King's College Law Faculty, and Chair of London University's Board of Studies in Law, was sworn in as a Judge of the Caribbean Court of Justice by His Excellency Professor George Maxwell Richards, President of the Republic of Trinidad & Tobago, on Thursday 30 June 2005, at 11:30 a.m., at The President's House, St. Ann's, Port of Spain. The brief ceremony was witnessed by the Right Honourable Mr. Justice Michael de la Bastide, President of the CCJ. The Judge's wife, Mrs. Linda Hayton, was also present. The Honourable Mr. Justice Hayton's swearing-in brings the total of CCJ Judges to seven, inclusive of the Court President.
